Faith-Based Response to Tennessee's Refusal of CDC Funding for HIV/AIDS

With the announcement that Tennessee has decided to refuse $9 million of funding from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention for HIV/AIDS services, the Faith-Based Coalition for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB, and Malaria directed by the 2030 Collaborative called upon Tennessee faith leaders and advocates to unite in urging Governor Lee and new Health Commissioner Dr. Ralph Alvarado to rescind their decision to decline funding and reverse course to welcome the CDC funding for the prevention, treatment, and care for priority populations who otherwise may see their access to services cut in the coming months and redirected to other organizations and programs.

Forty-two faith-based leaders including artists, non-profit leaders, pastors, and priests have signed the letter attached calling upon this administration to accept the funding. We believe this is not only the best medical and economic decision, but it is also the best moral decision.
