On Friday, Sept. 23, 2019 I had the opportunity to speak at the annual Chosen Conference at Seacoast Church. This conference draws some 2500 women from across the nation, and this year, they focused on “Victory.” We were honored and excited to be there for many reasons, but also because our friend and advocate, Lisa Bevere, served as the keynote speaker!

Nutrition, hunger, food deserts, and urban gardens were lifted up as the key service issues this year. I had the chance to speak on a panel with six other amazing women who did work in these areas largely in Charleston and across South Carolina. You can watch our session on the fight against hunger recorded for Facebook here.

I was thrilled to be able to contribute to this powerful conversation on hunger and offer a practical way for the women to get involved: advocacy. We offered postcards to each woman in the audience and after the talk, we had a huge basket where hundreds of women delivered their signatures for us to carry to Washington D.C. to their Senators and Representatives to share the story of these women’s concern for robust funding for global nutrition.

Special thanks to Jodi McCall for this unique opportunity!

And, please keep Charleston and Seacoast Church in your prayers as they deal with Hurricane Dorian this week.
