M3 Conference at Lakewood Church: The 2030 Collaborative Leads Discussions on Hunger and Global AIDs

Last weekend, we had the chance to speak at Dr. Paul Osteen’s 5th annual conference in Houston at Lakewood Church, M3 (Medical, Mobile Missions) Conference. We were honored to have the opportunity to speak both Friday night during the plenary session as well as Saturday morning during a breakout session.

Friday evening, I invited Jeremy Everett, Executive Director of the Baylor Collaborative on Hunger and Poverty, to join me on stage to discuss out latest book The End of Hunger, from both international and domestic perspectives. Jeremy also shared some core concepts from his latest book I Was Hungry on collaboration, communication, and commitment. For a full video of our plenary session, go HERE.

Saturday morning, I spoke on HIV and AIDS in 2030: A Choice between Two Futures – with the title based upon David Barstow’s latest book that talks about How we could both lose or win the war against AIDS in the next ten years based upon how we will respond economically, socially, and religiously. For this audience, we took a deeper dive into how religious communities could contribute to “winning” the war on AIDS both in the U.S. and in developing nations reducing stigma, providing services, raising awareness, and advocacy.

We were thrilled to connect with medical missions professionals from around the world and encourage them to share their stories on the frontlines of healthcare in low-income nations with their congressional representatives to protect funding for global nutrition and global AIDS.
